The ALIDIS alliance was created on 24 September 2002 in order to enable international mass food purchases and the pooling of expertise. Today it ranks as number three amongst European purchasing structures and alliances, and brings together three networks of independent distributors. The EROSKI Group in Spain. As the third largest distribution company in Spain, the Eroski group is present in the distribution market with Eroski hypermarkets and Eroski/centre and Eroski/city supermarkets.

The EDEKA Group in Germany. As the leading food distributor in Germany, the Edeka group is made up of supermarkets under the group brand, independently run supermarkets and hard discount shops. On 28 April 2005 the leading food distributor in Germany joined ALIDIS.
